Hollywood titans DreamWorks SKG and Technicolor know a thing or two about entertainment. But when they identified the need to simplify and consolidate the home entertainment experience, they came to Portland. It wasn’t a problem of consumers not having enough choices. Quite the opposite: between rented and purchased movies, network television, Netflix, recorded live events, photos and music, the experience had become scattered, splintered, frayed, YouTubed, tweeted, fragmented, disorganized, and delayed. It was all just a little too overwhelming. Technology was supposed to make everything easier and somehow it had actually gotten worse: multiple remote controls and a TV and a tablet and a computer and a phone. Somebody needed to find an elegantly simple and singular way to bring order to this madness, to take all those loose ends and bits and pieces and come up with one simple, easy, quick, and possibly even fun way to access all of their media. Enter Ziba.

Recognizing the opportunity to create something from scratch and make home entertainment infinitely more simple and enjoyable, DreamWorks and Technicolor approached Ziba to create an integrated solution. One that provided an unprecedented selection of content, and an extremely intuitive and personalized user experience.

 
The solution was M-Go, a branded experience that worked seamlessly on any screen, letting users watch programming on devices they own, rather than sort through a pile of remotes.

The solution was M-Go, a branded experience that worked seamlessly on any screen, letting users watch programming on devices they own, rather than sort through a pile of remotes. To accomplish such an ambitious program, it was clear to all three companies that collaboration was essential. Ziba’s design team integrated deeply with Technicolor’s developers to problem-solve on the fly and bring to market a media offering previously thought impossible. M-Go brought nearly infinite content to a single interface, turning a frustrating experience into a joyful one.

A hit at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, M-Go was released to the public shortly thereafter. Following its release, the app quickly gained more than 1.5 million active users and was deemed “the Amazon of media.”
